United Concordia Staff Provides
Supplies to Military in Iraq
Over the past several months, United Concordia employees
have been sending boxes of supplies and “goodies” to friends
and family members serving in Iraq.
In 2006, three boxes containing snacks, magazines, socks and
personal care items have been sent to military members. Three
more boxes are being prepared to send.
To let employees know how much their thoughtfulness matters
to the soldiers serving overseas, some recipients of the
packages have sent thank you letters to United Concordia
employees.
“Thank you for the care package,” says William C. Hackenberger,
SFC, PPNCO. “Because we are in the middle of Baghdad, in a small
area called the International Zone and surrounded by what we
call the red zone, we can not keep necessities in stock. So we
thank you and greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”
The departments are preparing to send three more boxes to
relatives of United Concordia personnel who are serving in
Iraq. “This is a way we can give back to our loved ones who
dedicate their lives to the military,” says Becky Walden,
supervisor, Dental Claims. “We feel strongly about helping
in any way we can.”
