During June of 2007, the TDP Customer Service Activity
Team coordinated a "Books for Baghdad" drive
to collect books and magazines for military members
serving overseas. The intent was to provide a book
or magazine for them to enjoy during their free time.
Collection boxes were made available for employees to
drop off the reading materials.
Activity Team members placed a homemade bookmark, with
a thank you message to the military member in the front
cover of every book.
During the book drive, a total of 330 pieces of reading
material were collected.
Lori Souders, TDP Customer Service Representative and
Air Force veteran, mentioned the book drive to her son,
PFC Andrew Robison, a member of the Army's 37th
Infantry - Company A, stationed at Fort Stewart,
GA. He expressed the desire to come and thank the members of TDP
Customer Service in person for their efforts in collecting the books.
Andrew visited United Concordia on July 9th
and personally thanked the members of the Activity Team
and management staff, UCCI employees also thanked
Andrew for his service to our country and wished him
well when he deploys to Iraq in September, 2007.
Andrew expressed that he was "proud to serve my country".
The books and magazines were taken to a base in Carlisle, PA for
distribution to military members serving overseas.
